Paste

My real name is Dave and I've been practicing Irish tenor banjo seriously for about two years. I started out with a CD ROM I got from Madfortrad, featuring Gerry O'Connor. This summer I started playing the session at Dempsey's pub in NYC, which has taught me a lot. I am now taking a class with Pio and Dony Ryan at the Irish Arts Center.

I've always loved the Dubliners and the Clancy Brothers but serious traditional music was something new to me. I play a 1930 Vega Little Wonder which I bought at Mandolin Brothers, a well known fretted instrument shop on Staten Island.

I work full tiime in advertising but this is my main hobby. My goal is to learn the instrument properly and be able to hold my own in sessions someday. I feel I am on my way.

My wife Laurie used to play the fiddle, but found it too tough. She just switched to the mandolin and with daily practice is catching up with me fast.
