Harping McCartan

Hi, my name is Fearghal McCartan, I'm 21 years old and come from Newcastle Co. Down, N. Ireland. I am now studying Conservation Biology at Aberdeen University - but keeping the music alive.
As my username might suggest, I play the harp. I have been playing for around 12 years now. I passed grade eight on the Irish harp with distinction a few years ago & also hold a performance diploma of the LCM.
Other instruments I play are the classical harp, violin/fiddle, banjo, mandolin, mandola and tin whistle.
My favourite tune types are hornpipes and the music of Turlough O'Carolan. A few years ago I discovered the music of Scott Skinner and have been hooked on it since!! An added bonus of beeing at Aberdeen Uni is that it houses the 'Scott Skinner Collection' - most of Skinners original manuscripts of his tunes and collections.
