Dan Carollo

Dan Carollo is a acoustic finger style guitarist (originally from Seattle, Washington -- now residing in County Wicklow, Ireland as of December 2007) who performs a blend of contemporary traditional Irish and American instrumental tunes (primarily in DADGAD tuning). He has been playing guitar for every 25 years, covering a variety of styles over the years -- folk, country, rock, classical.

Along the way, he has drawn his main influences from guitarists such as Martin Simpson, Pierre Bensusan, John Doyle and Tony McManus.

Dan released his debut CD “Waiting For Inspiration” in March 2004. This 13-song CD features a mix of Irish, American, old-time gospel and original tunes. See: http://www.thesession.org/recordings/display/1734

His most recent CD release is "Miles From Dublin" (2006), a collection of mostly traditional Irish tunes with several originals. Guest musicians include uilleann piper Eliot Grasso and fiddle player Randal Bays. See: http://www.thesession.org/recordings/display/2057.
(available on CD Baby)

Dan was selected "June 2004 Northwest Folk Artist of the Month" on KBCS 91.3 and has performed at various northwest venues including the Northwest Court Stage at the 2005 Northwest Folklife Festival.

His music was also selected along with several other local artists to debut the City of Seattle's "On Call" music program in 2006, which features the music of local Northwest artists. Dan performs annually at the Northwest Folklife Festival.

Music from his second CD release, "Miles From Dublin", as well as some original scoring was included an independent film "The Dark Horse" by Seattle film directory Cornelia Duryée Moore. (see www.thedarkhorsemovie.com)

He has performed or recorded with numerous musicians, including uilleann piper Eliot Grasso, fiddle player Randal Bays, button accordion player Daniel Possumato, Suzanne Taylor (of An Tua), Michael Connolly of Captain Gravel and others.

Dan currently lives in Bray, County Wickow (Ireland).
