Hello,
I live near Niagara Fals, New York. I am a retired auto worker that has 30 years experience welding, mostly aluminum. I ride a BMW motorcycle, thus the name.
I happened upon this forum while doing a bit of research on a violin that was given to me several years ago. Louis Lowendall, Berlin,1897. There were two bows with it, the carpet beetles had done a job on, so I had one fixed up, gave the luthier the choice of which one to fix. Turns out it is marked Lyon&Healy, Chicago. I guess that is supposed to be above average, too? The other bow had nothing stamped in it. It stil had about 40 hairs still on it, I trimmed off the loose ones, and it plays pretty good!
