Inkygirl

I'm a member of the Toronto area folk trio, Urban Tapestry (http://www.urbantapestry.org/). I've been curious about the Irish session tradition for a while and have recently started to learn more penny whistle. Still a newbie at this, though. My favourite whistle is my newest whistle: a Michael Burke brass wide-bore black-tip D whistle.

Other musical background:
I play flute with my music group, and have recorded on other people's CDs as well.

I've been playing piano for as long as I can remember, taught piano part-time for about 20 years. I also play some guitar, have been learning to play Celtic harp. I'm a songwriter; some of my songs have aired on CBC radio, Dr. Demento and Prairie Celidh (Winnipeg Celtic radio station).

Day job: freelance writer and illustrator.

I have an online cartoon about freelance writing which has absolutely nothing to do with Irish music:
