I live in the garden suburb of Cambuslang, Scotland on the south side of Glasgow and have done so since 1977. I come from East Perthshire (the east bit is very important to me). I have played the tenor banjo since 1970 (on and off; now very much ON) and also the domra (a 4 stringed Russian mandolin - which I consider as a banjo player's mandolin). I started off on the whistle in 1966 whilst still in the army but gave it up in the 1970s. I took it up again seriously this year (2009) as there are now so many fine instruments available. Also I am learning to play the piccolo,
