I hail from Tennessee in the USA and my ancestory is Scots-Irish. I began listening to and collecting Celtic music in 1977. In the fall of 2001, after decades of playing guitar in other styles, I made the leap to octave mandolin and Celtic music.
Mostly I play melody, or a melody/chord hybrid using GDAE tuning, but I also do some GDAD. I play (hopefully) tasteful bohdran too.
When possible, I play sessions, but at the moment most of my musical energy is directed toward performing in a traditional Celtic band.
