I just finished my undergrad in viola at the University of Oklahoma, and I will be pursuing my MA and PhD in Ethnomusicology (concentrating on India) at the University of California Santa Barbara in the Fall. For now, my wife and I are spending the summer in SE Wisconsin, where I grew up.
On the side, I also play the fiddle, because it's fun, and I really like ITM. My repertoire is mostly Irish, with a few Scottish and Cape Breton tunes thrown in, sort of a reflection of the session where I got started. At the moment, I am listening to a lot of Sligo and Sliabh Luachra music, and trying to pick up as many tunes as I can on my summer off. I have also been dabbling with sean nos singing and puirt-a-beul (and I do mean dabbling, no expert here).
