greentree

when I was a kid I studied classical violin for 8 years, with a top teacher from Juilliard. played classical through college. Fell in love with Celtic music - at first, listening to"pop" stuff like Enya and Riverdance without even knowing the roots. When we lived in Europe for several years, I encountered the "real thing" for the first time (it's not easy to find in the U.S.!) and recently decided to learn irish fiddle. Technically it's easy for me- but I am working at getting the "nyah", that romantic Irish spirit and lilt of the music -mostly through listening to tunes hundreds of times and trying to copy the sound! It's not easy!!!
