I spent my childhood wrestling with the fiddle, also some classical education on the violin. Also took up viola, because the junior orchestra were pretty desperate for violas (I was too crap to make it in with the violins). Gave it up before I hit twenty, cries of relief all 'round.
Then in 2006, considerably older but not one bit wiser, I bought a flute and started lurking around sessions. I still have no idea why.
In the immortal words of the Bard: "If music be the food of love, make mine a double cheesburger."
