I've been playing the DG melodeon for over 35 years. I formed the Bursledon Village Band in 1977 and we're still going strong.
We play mainly English tunes (they are scarcer than Irish at the moment) but we do have a few sets of Irish tunes in the repertoire. My favourite Irish box player is Jackie Daly. It's a shame he appears to have given up the Anglo Concertina I thought he was great.
I've recently started The Violin Company, refurbishing old instruments and supplying new, mainly student outfits. My fiddle playing is not great but I do so enjoy it and when, for a few bars, it goes just how I want, it's heaven.
