calum's van

I was taught to play classical violin at school at the age of about 8 - by an Irish man - Mr Murphy - and I remember him teaching us one or two jigs and hornpipes - which I loved. I gave up the violin at 13 and returned to the fiddle(!) a good few years later. My maternal grandfather was from Belfast, and played the flute (an old wooden one which is now framed on my wall), and my father is from Co.Down, so I have always had a real feeling for Irish music.
