Hi -- I mostly play flute and whistle, though I've been known to pick up other instruments now and then, and cut my teeth (figuratively) on guitar. I've played in amateur orchestras and bands, was a part of a jazz quartet for a while, and have dabbled elsewhere.
Main problem for me has been finding other people to play with -- took years to find people who liked what I liked. I've played Contra Dance music with a band for the past many years. Nope, you're right -- that's not Irish. So I work on that mostly by myself (snif...), and don't think I'm really anywhere near Irish literacy. So I plug away at it and lurk here...
Oh, yes -- almost forgot -- I live in Sacramento, California, USA.
