Franco Cesarelli (Solo Musicians)
I can often be seen busking in the West Midlands for cancer charities. I don't know how traditionalists would view my use of computer generated accompaniment but many appear to appreciate my efforts, and I still enjoy playing at real sessions. I am available as a solo performer in the UK West Midlands within a
40 Mile radius of Birmingham.
Making use of self prepared accompaniment tracks I can provide
live music for your event at an affordable price.
If required I can play with a caller providing a complete barn dance.
I have many years experience as a barn dance/ceilidh fiddler.
My programme largely consists of lively Celtic/American dance music.
I also play quieter items including waltzes, airs, film music
and some light classical pieces.
My repertoire is suitable for background, listening and dancing.
To check my availability and to discuss your requirements
please Email funkydelard@hotmail.com or 'phone 01384396706
Alternately you may contact me by signing my guest book.

A Musical Landscape - Gleann Cholmcille (Regional Guides)
The Cairdeas na bhFidiléirí (Donegal Fiddlers Association) has just added a wonderful interactive element to its website - http://www.donegalfiddlemusic.ie/, accessed by clicking on the link to 'A Musical Landscape' on the lefthand side.
This leads to a description of the project, a cartologically based musical history, and allows one to visit six areas of the Glencolmcille peninsula.
Dotted on each map are a number of houses. Hover your mouse over any one of these and you'll discover which musician lived there and (in many cases) be able to follow links to biographies, photographs and, in some cases, sound clips.
If you're a lover of Donegal's music or know the area well (or just idling away time in front of your monitor), you'll find the level of detail thoroughly absorbing and educational too.

The British Library (Regional Guides)
I've listed this under 'Regional Guides' since the drop-down category list does not offer a better alternative.
The British Library has begun the mammoth task of making its sound recordings collection available on the Net.
There's a host of intriguing material uploaded so far. Click on 'World and Traditional Music' and then 'Ethnographic wax cylinders' and you'll find just one recording (of mouth-whistling) from Ireland, but a fair few from Scotland and England (and plenty from West and Central Africa).
It's also tremendous fun to investigate the various spoken word sections.
