Beginning to Read Music by Sarah Northcott
This is aimed at traditional musicians and I've just bought it - already all those wierd things that I couldn't understand are starting to fall into place...there's no horrible jargon to deal with, and it's all taken step by step. And there's a section on how to throw away the music once you've got the basic tune.

Bodhran Wisdom
Welcome to Bodhran Wisdom, a site that goes beyond jigs and reels and into the deeper aspects of Bodhran Drumming.
For thousands of years the Bodhran, (or whatever it was called back then) was primarily a ceremonial and ritual drum, and it is these aspects that this site will try to address.
However, in order to use the drum for its original purposes it is necessary to learn how to play it. So on this site you will also find some simple guidelines for playing in both traditional and more progressive modern styles.
So this site is meant to serve three purposes. Firstly help beginners have fun with this remarkable instrument, how to play it and how to look after it. Secondly to introduce existing bodhránii to the world of drumming for ceremonial and ritual purposes; and finally to provide a unique prompter and resource for those who already practice meditation, story telling, shamanism, healing or street performance, and would like to explore the contribution this drum has to make.

Boghill Centre
Christmas 2001 I joined in a 12 days workshop Irish music at the Boghille Centre in a hamlet in County Clare between Kilfenora and Lisdoonvarna (West Ireland). The qualified tutors; the masterclasses; the hospitality; the kind people; the good ambience full of jigs, reels, flings, etcetera; the good food; the beautiful area of the Burden, - in brief - it's advisable being there with your instrument and passion for Irish music. And...it's up to you joining the sessions in the local bars.

Chiff and Fipple ITM Forum
What makes the new forum special is that two very fine musicians, Peter Laban and Steven
Jones (whom some of you might know as Brother Steve) have posted a number of transcription of recordings of great traditional Irish musicians. Mostly these recordings are
private recordings done by Peter, or collected by him. You will find there transcriptions of tracks by Jimmy Donaghue, Tommy McCarthy (from the Sporting Nell CD), Joe
Bane, Kieran Collins, and Willy Clancy himself. More transcriptions will follow. As you can see from this list of musicians, the emphasis is on "pure drop" and on stuff that is a bit older. It all grew out of the desire of some acolytes to get guidance that
a bit more tangible than "well, you have to listen a lot to get it." Listen for what? Peter and Steven are great resourses for tips and hints, and both have posted comments to
each transcription that discuss rhythm, timing, variations, ornamentation: all those subtle things that make a great performance. It is really a tremendous effort by Peter &
Steve (and others who will put up their transcriptions in time or who have commented). I believe it is unique. The point of the transcriptions is not so much to make it easier
to learn the tune, but rather to bring out what the player does with a specific tune, and why: to show the richness and subtlety of the Tradition.

Chord House
A quite useful website for guitar players (and piano players) - especially the 'advanced' section, where you can check chords in all possible tunings, and additionally pick up some useful theory stuff (all the details on the chord are displayed in a small window below the charts and boxes). A bit confusing in the beginning, when you get used to it - it is an addictive means of exploring the tunings and chords on guitar.
