A Musical Landscape - Gleann Cholmcille
The Cairdeas na bhFidiléirí (Donegal Fiddlers Association) has just added a wonderful interactive element to its website - http://www.donegalfiddlemusic.ie/, accessed by clicking on the link to 'A Musical Landscape' on the lefthand side.
This leads to a description of the project, a cartologically based musical history, and allows one to visit six areas of the Glencolmcille peninsula.
Dotted on each map are a number of houses. Hover your mouse over any one of these and you'll discover which musician lived there and (in many cases) be able to follow links to biographies, photographs and, in some cases, sound clips.
If you're a lover of Donegal's music or know the area well (or just idling away time in front of your monitor), you'll find the level of detail thoroughly absorbing and educational too.

Dulcimer Player's Forum
The NEW - ‘Dulcimer Player’s Forum’ (UK & Ireland)
I am trying to establish a ‘Dulcimer Forum’ over here on this side of the ‘POND!
My on-going Poll, over at the excellent ‘Everything Dulcimer’, revealed that only a tiny fraction of active members on that forum are actually from over here, but as we all know there are many active enthusiasts over here too. So, in an effort to encourage more contact from them and hopefully spread the Dulcimer word over here, I am trying to start up this Dulcimer forum.
I have, of course, posted numerous links to the ‘NONSUCH DULCIMER CLUB’ & to the 'EVERYTHING DULCIMER' website too, on the existing pages of this forum. and I hope all you Dulcimer players out there will agree that this venture is in a good cause?
I had a bad experience when trying to get another Trad music forum off the ground here, from the dreaded SPAMMERS, so I have tried to nail this one down, pretty tightly, which may well put some people off, but hopefully enough of the more dedicated & persistent Dulcimer enthusiasts will follow through the register & password process to help me establish a useful vehicle for the promotion of our beloved Dulcimers.
It may also prove to be a useful tool for anyone organising a tour over here! ;-)
Cheers

The Swannanoa Gathering is a series of week-long workshops in folk music (instrumental and singing), dance and folklore held in July and August on the campus of Warren Wilson College just east of Asheville in the heart of North Carolina's beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. With a limited enrollment and an 'open' format which allows each student to select their own curriculum from a variety of courses, we offer an intimate, supportive community experience for students of all abilities, featuring a staff of some of the finest performers and teachers in the world.

The British Library
I've listed this under 'Regional Guides' since the drop-down category list does not offer a better alternative.
The British Library has begun the mammoth task of making its sound recordings collection available on the Net.
There's a host of intriguing material uploaded so far. Click on 'World and Traditional Music' and then 'Ethnographic wax cylinders' and you'll find just one recording (of mouth-whistling) from Ireland, but a fair few from Scotland and England (and plenty from West and Central Africa).
It's also tremendous fun to investigate the various spoken word sections.
