There’s a wonderful open-air party and session brewing in Kentucky for the weekend of September 30th and October 1st in a rustic setting comprising 117 wooded acres.
The Festival also offers a lively pub environment featuring a solid Trad lineup. There will be to two tented live stages running round-the-clock for the duration of the Fest, including:
* Tommy Martin, the uilleann piper and Dublin man (www.tompipes.com) with his friend
* Kevin Buckley, fiddle
* Peter Fitzgerald, from Navan in Co Meath - an absolute wizard on the banjo with his friend
* Martin McCann , from Co Tyrone - flutewhislte along with
* Beverly Buchanan - a lovely B/C boxplayer
* The high-energy Celtic/Bluegrass fusion music of Louisville-based “Cloigeann”.
* Lexington favorites, “Liam’s Fancy”, alongside Labhrás & Brendan Draper.
* Robert Tincher, the noted Celtic balladeer, and a Kentucky favorite son.
* A posse of great young players from The Riley School of Irish Music in Cincinnati.
* Open Mike time segments for Ballad Singing
* Local Irish dance troupes from both Louisville and Lexington
* The General Michael Collins Memorial Pipe Band
These musicians will be playing in both a performance and in a session environment. If you have an interest in playing the music, bring yer axe!!
We ought to make note that earlier this year the Faire Grounds opened with the long-running - and wildly popular - Highland Renaissance Faire. Here are some particulars:
