Alan Morrisroe in concert, session to follow, IAANJ 6/7/08

We're gearing up for the Alan Morrisroe concert and session to follow at IAANJ, on Saturday June 7th at 8:00PM. For those of you who met him on his last trip in November when he hosted our session, you will remember a wild time, a musical tsunami.

For this concert Alan will treat us to many rare and nearly extinct tunes he collected from the area he grew up in, Swinford, Co. Mayo, most of these he collected from the older people in the village. We will have a session as usual after the concert. We will also be recording for his upcoming CD, and hope to catch part of the session for use on it... a real blast at the end!

If you would like a preview of Alan we have a youtube up from last year: http://youtube.com/watch?v=JzNsDOHa90A
He is a very captivating entertainer, a great musician, and a great historian as well, full of wonderful stories. Try not to miss this one, even if you have not heard of him, he is well worth it, it will be a wild musical time! He is like a whirlwind, a truly inspired player.

Alan will also offer a workshop in old style techniques and tunes on accordion and/or melodeon. The cost is $35 to Alan, and we will need reservations for this ahead. it will run 4:30 - 6:00PM. Please let me know if interested by emailing:
irisnevins@verizon.net

Tickets are $20 or $15 for IAANJ members, which includes free refreshments and parking. IAANJ is located at 352 Richard Mine Rd., Rockaway Tnsp. NJ (Mapquest thinks it is in Wharton) and directions can be found at www.iaanj.com . If you wish to make reservations, please do not email IAANJ but rather respond to this email, or use irisnevins@verizon.net .

If you think you will be coming, it would be great if you could at least just email your name in and how many will be with you, so we can plan on food and seating. if you need to cancel, just let us know, no obligation, it just gives us a good idea and helps us prepare for the evening and is a great help.

Hope you can make it, you will definitely not be disappointed! Though not yet a household name, Alan is collecting quite a following wherever he goes, he is an amazing and enthusiastic player!
