Connacht Fleadh Cheoil - Westport, Co. Mayo

Have a look at the wonderful programme of events which lead up to the Connacht Fleadh Cheoil in Westport, Co. Mayo from 30th May to 6th June this year. Something for everyone.

For those who struggle with the CCÉ website here's the link.

If this is a 'wonderful programme of events', then I'm Reginald Bosanquet.

Begrudery

and what would you call a "wonderful programme of events!
Bet you are one of those who takes a back seat and organises nothing!

I've organised more gigs in my life, MollyB, than you've had double bacardis! Don't knock those who know something about events organisation.

Just wondering what agenda you have in posting the above comment to a simple posting about an event. If you are an organiser of events (name them) then you will know that we are all volunteers doing what we can for the love of the music and to help the younger musicians. Comments like that submitted by yourself serve no purpose other than to upset and distress people. Are you a comhaltas basher or just feel the need to add smart comments to posts from other people.
I notice you didn't add any comments to other events posted and you are from Leitrim so perhaps you will come along and help us out when we organise events for the local musicians in future. WE would welcome any new ideas. You don't have to be a member of comhaltas to do so and I would ask you to stop the bashing.

What's 'begrudery'?

MollyB, your programme of events is certainly not 'wonderful' unless your a fan of discussions on the origin of place names.

I have no agenda but my own and I don't think that you or any others organising such events do anything to 'help younger musicians' when you couch your description of the events in question in such hyperbolic language. I don't reckon that I've distressed anyone on this site but you and I'll continue to bash Comhaltas at every opportunity.

MacCruiskeen, your pathetic. If you attended the county fleadhs in Connaught this year you could not but be impressed by the high standard of musicianship. This alone will ensure that the provincial fleadh will be a quality event. I notice you didn't mention any of the "gigs" you organised.

Oh, accordian_guy, but I have attended one of the county fleadhs and was singularly not impressed by the quality of musicianship (and the fact that virtually nobody was competing in the Senior competitions - says it all, really - in fact some of those who won the junior competitions should really have been given a pat on the back and just told to go home and do more practice).

There would be a lot less competing if volunteers, such as MollyB, did not give of their time "free gratis and for nothing". You would be a lot more useful if you would either put up or shut up.
