two professional musicians as the trail winds along the city-centre
streets between a number of Kilkenny’s iconic traditional public
houses.At each venue the musical guides will treat you to an
unrivalled music session while explaining the origins, instruments
and influences of the time-honoured music tradition in Ireland.
With time for a ‘drop of the pure’ in each pub, a mighty night’s
entertainment beckons…
First port of call on the Kilkenny Trad Trail is Bollards Bar and Bistro. Centrally located on Kieran St., a mere short stroll from Kilkenny Castle, this pub has been serving thirsty Kilkenny revellers for over a century, all warmly welcomed over the years by several generations of the same family. Kieran, the grandson of the original owner, oversees the provision of first class food and beverages to friends and soon-to-be-friends alike.
