Eamon Coyne

Clare fiddler Eamon Coyne will conduct a workshop and perform a solo concert at Johnson String Instrument in Falmouth on Saturday, January 19, 2008.

Coyne has been a dominant and important fiddle and mandolin player on the traditional Irish music scene for many years. He was brought up in the tradition by his father Eamon Coyne of the world famous Liverpool Ceili along with brothers Michael (pipes & vocals) and Terry (flute)

For ten years he was a driving force in the music scene of Miltown Malbay in County Clare, and instrumental in leading concerts and sessions in Ennis and Doolin. He played regularly with other top musicians such as Tommy & Siobhan Peoples and Brendan McGlinchey. Recently married, Coyne is now spending more time on this side of the Atlantic. He and his brother Mick teamed with local fiddler and guitarist Patsy Whelan to wow audiences at last summer’s Cape Cod Celtic Festival where he has been invited to return. He is also a noted composer of melodies and tunes which are played by many of today's traditional performers.

The workshop and concert will take place at Johnson String Instrument in the Queens Buyway shops at 49 North Main Street in Falmouth. The workshop is at 5:00 p.m. with a registration fee of $20 while the concert is at 7:30; tickets are $15. For more information call 508-495-5551
