Irish Music Classes

New classes will begin Janunary 12th at St. Andrew's Church in Roswell. Please visit our website for more information.

Now offering 3 adult classes: Whistle, Fiddle, Song


CHILD AND TEEN CLASSES

Whistle Class 9-10am: Irish whistle for absolute beginners. Students can buy inexpensive whistle on line. Please search for a tin whistle in the key of D. They run from $10 to $25 and are a low cost way to begin Irish music training. Teacher: Gary White.

Whistle/ Flute Class Intermediate 9-10am: This is a whistle class for students with previous experience on Irish whistle and will focus on learning tunes with ornamentation as well as exploring Irish flute. Teacher: Lauren Maton.

Beginner Fiddle Class 9-10am: This is a fun class that introduces students to Irish music for fiddle. This class is ideal for classical violists who are eager to learn Irish fiddle. Teacher: Suzanne Harner

Intermediate AJCB Class 8-9am: Irish music for fiddle, flute, etc for young and intermediate players who want to learn Irish techniques and tunes as well as engage in public performances. Teacher: Katherine Thomas

Advanced AJCB Class 10-12pm: Irish music for fiddle, flute, etc for young and intermediate players who want to learn Irish techniques and tunes as well as engage in public performances. Teacher: Katherine Thomas

Celtica 10-12pm: This is an audition only class for advanced musicians that incorporates movement performance elements with contemporary Irish & Celtic music as well as Gruap Cheoil music. Teacher: Katherine Thomas

Fiddle Private Lessons: Private lessons are available on Irish fiddle. Lessons focus on technique and repertoire. Students must have at least 2 years experienced playing the violin and are taught on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Teacher: Katherine Thomas

Concertina Class: Irish concertina for absolute beginners. Students are encouraged to rent an instrument from the teacher before purchasing an instrument. All music will be taught on a 30 button C/G Anglo Concertina. Teacher: Katherine Irwin Thomas.

Button Accordion Private Lessons: Private lessons are available on the button accordion for children and adults. Please email the teacher regarding rental and lessons times. Teacher: Eileen MacCallum.


ADULT CLASSES

Beginner Adult Whistle 10-11am: This class will introduce or progress skills on the Tin Whistle. This accessible instrument opens a gateway into the other instruments of Ireland. Come learn this fun, social music with us! A tin whistle in the key of D is required. Please contact Gary if you need information on how to obtain a whistle. Teacher: Gary White

Celtic Song Class 9-10am: Come learn songs a myriad of songs from your pub tune favorites to traditional songs in Irish Gaelic. This class is open to all ages! This will be a fun class class where students learn songs, practice their singing skills and compile a song notebook to increase their song repertoire. Please bring an empty three ring note book and recording devise. Teacher: Susan Moran

Adult Irish Fiddle 9-10am: This class will introduce classical violinist and non- Irish players to the technique, ornamentation bowing, repertoire and history of traditional Irish fiddle. A relaxed class to make Irish fiddle easy and accessible to all. Music will be taught in the traditional method-- by ear with sheet music give out after tunes are learned. Join us to learn the skills and techniques behind Irish fiddlers! Teacher: Katherine Irwin Thomas
