Bulgarian, Romanian and Serbian folk dance seminar

We present you 10th Workshop for Balkan Folklore - Balkanfolk 2007
15 - 28 July, 2007, Bankya - Bulgaria.
Balkanfolk seminar (workshop) is a meeting of participants from all the continents. It is held in Bankya, 15 km away from the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia.
The participants learn Balkan folklore dances, traditional musical instruments - gaida, gadulka, tambura, tapan, kaval and accordion, Bulgarian language and folklore singing.
This year the teachers ar:
Emil Genov, artistic director of Zornitsa Ensemble – Bulgarian folk dances,
Marius Ursu, artistic director of the Folk Ensemble “Doina Timisului” – Timisoara, Romania – Romanian folk dances;
Vladimir Mutavdžić, professor at the University of Niš – Serbian folk dances.
Teachers of Bulgarian musical instruments are professional musicians from Philip Koutev National Ensemble, Bulgaria.
In addition to the educational programme of the seminar, two days of excursions are scheduled. On July 20, 2007 the participants will visit Vitosha National park, National Museum of History in Sofia and the close of the XI International folklore festival Vitosha. On July 24 a visit to the following sites will be organized – the open-air ethnographic museum Etara, the Shipka temple on the Shipka top, ‘Rojdestvo Hristovo’ temple near the Shipka town, the tomb of Sevt III in the valley of Thracian tsars (the Valley of Roses).
