In conjunction with the 40th Fermanagh in Belleek, a special night is in store. "A night with the McConnells" is destined to be a fantastic night. Hailing from Bellanaleck in Co. Fermanagh, the four McConnell brothers of Cathal, Cormac, Mickey and Sean are performing in this special event. Support on the night will be provided by the renowned McKeaney sisters.
Each of the McConnell brothers are famous in their own rights. Below is an extract from a piece written by Cormac McConnell
"The one you see with the longest hair and the longest nose is Cormac. He is also the oldest, cannot play any instrument, is the worst singer
and talks too much. It is for this reason the others usually appoint him as MC on the rare reasons they get together. He is a journalist, broadcaster
author and songwriter, the father of four grownup children, and resides in County Clare.
The one you see with the least hair in Cathal. Even his brothers regard him as some kind of living legend, a beautiful gentle man with a gift
for music and balladry. He was an All Ireland champion on tinwhistle and flute before he was out of his teens, is a founding member of
The Boys Of The Lough, and has played his music and sung his songs all over the world for forty years. They broke the mould after they
created Cathal. He lives in Edinburgh in between his travels.
The largest of the two others is Sean, the one with the whitest hair. Sean has been a journalist with The Irish Times in Dublin for many years,
wins all the family arguments with the greatest of ease, is seen by his brothers as "the pick of the litter" because of his immense range of
compassions and humanity. He is also a significant songwriter but, sadly, his very best songs are for restricted male company only.
He was an Ulster ballad singing champion in his youth and has the voice to prove it. He lives in Dublin and Roscommon.
Last but not least comes Mickey, the final baby to leave that wooden cradle. Mickey is also a journalist who had many years experience
with The Irish Press and The Irish Times and other publications before moving to Listowel in Kerry with his wife Maura and daughters Kerry and Claire. Mickey
wrote the back page of The Kerryman for many years in between writing and recording major songs like "Only Our Rivers Run
Free", "The Tinkerman's Daughter" , "Peter Pan And Me" and many others. He regularly entertains both at home and abroad
and Cormac and Sean are sick, sore, and tired of being asked-" Are ye brothers of Cathal and Mickie?".
I have already submitted this to the events section, but I just wanted to highlight it further!

Re: MacConnell's reunite for a special concert!
Belleek is where I was born. Still go there regularly. Should be a great show, I alas may not be able to make it but you never know.
