Please allow me the space to tell you about The 20th Hobart Fleadh!
The Irish Association of Tasmania, with the most incredible support from The New Sydney Hotel, amongst many others, proudly presents its 20th Fleadh.
This is truly a fabulous celebration of Irish Culture, The Music, The Tradition.
Proceedings commence on Friday night, 11th March, and near enough continue until close of play, Monday night, 14th March.
Over many years there have been some great supporters of The Hobart Fleadh through their commitment to travel interstate and play and contribute over the weekend.
It is with much joy that many of these are here to celebrate this annual event.
Alongside these people, there are many contributions from local musicians, both from the south and North of the state.
There are concerts every night, sessions every day...and very, very late at night...morning...Al and his team are fabulous; quite literally they will hang on until the last tune is played!
Sunday morning is a wonderful celebration of the life of Margaret Ryan. Margaret was a very much loved member or the Irish Association and we celebrate her life with a literary brunch.
Readings and tellings from many contributors start off the most magnificent of proceedings of this Sunday morning event.
ALL present receive a full Irish Breakfast.
Believe me ALL can have a breakfast, not just readers/contributors, and this is courtesy of The New Sydney Hotel.
This is a very special morning, and I must stress that ALL are very welcome.
This year, after The Literary Brunch, there will be a dance, with steps explained, followed by The Sunday Afternoon Concert which is of a gentler pace and it is wonderful to see whole families gathered to celebrate our tradition.
Well, when Monday afternoon comes along, what do we do?
Like all sportsmen and women the world over, we wind down with a full recovery session...be prepared!!!
Remember, this is just a training run for St. Patrick's Day on
Thursday!
