The Glasgow Irish Minstrels branch of Comhaltas celebrates its 50th anniversary this month (the oldest branch outside Ireland). A busy weekend is planned.
On Fri 19th there is a civic reception in the City Chambers.
On Sat 20, at 1pm, there is a youth concert with Comhaltas, Feis Rois and Celtic Connections Youth Orchestra in the main auditorium.
At 7.30pm there is a concert in Rutherglen Town Hall, featuring some of the finest traditional musicians anywhere (see list below).
On Sun 21st, there are workshops in St. Roch's school. Tutors are:
Fiddle: Antoin McGabhann, Theresa Kavanagh, Gavin Pennycook.
Flute: seanna Agnew and Cillian O' Dallaigh.
Piano Acc: Colin McGill and Vincent Jordan.
Button Acc: Sean Og Graham and Eimear Graham.
Concertina: Aidan O'Neill.
Banjo: Brona Graham.
Whistle: Aine O' Connor
Singing(English and Irish): Taidhg Maher.
Set Dancing: Bernie Ni Ghabhann
