Marick started playing the Tin whistle as a teenager while travelling. This took him Galway where he met the virtuoso whistler Mary Bergin. He studied with her for three years which gave him a good grounding in Traditional Irish Music. At the same time he started learning the silver flute and the timber flute shortly after. Having traveled and played extensively performing with many bands of different styles he has always come back to folk music. . His playing is creative, robust and passionate. He is among a minority of players who use the traditional Irish ornaments, techniques on the Boehm system flute.
This workshop is aimed at deepening peoples understanding of traditional Irish music and to how to achieve the fluid sound used by Celtic flute players.
