At the Racket in Concert

Dont miss this wonderful oppurtunity to see At the Racket perform on home turf on Wed 28th January as the band continue on their successful string of dates promoting their newly arranged material from their third album.
As always, they bring to the audience that wonderful vaudeville mix of swinging banjo and saxophone sound along with vamping piano and pulsating rhythmic guitars and tenor guitars.
Thrown into the mix for good measure are fiddle and flute and of course that special part of the set of duet banjo's, performed by Irelands two leading banjo players John Carty and Brian Mc Grath.
This band is a must for all trad enthusiasts but is also a great introduction to irish music to those novice ears!!!!
Blending a mix of the old and the new, pacy and slow, trad sounds with smooth jazz sounds, this is a unique experience in terms of Irish music showcasing! Where else can you find irelands foremost banjo/fiddle player make tunes float along with a seemless saxophone exhibition backed up by swinging haromnic accompaniement??

The line up includes:
John Carty on fiddle and banjo.

John originally from London now living in Boyle is well known on the traditional circuit as recipient of TG4 Traditional Musician of the Year in 2003. John also plays with Matt Molloy and Patrick Street.

Brian McGrath on piano, tenor guitar, and banjo.

Brian originally from Co. Fermanagh now living in Galway has played and recorded with all the big names in Traditional music including De Dannan and Four Men and a Dog.

Seamus O'Donnell on flute, saxophone and vocals.

Seamus is part of the O’Donnell clan from Aclare, Co Sligo and continues their wonderful family singing tradition. He is particularly respected for his uniquely traditional style on the saxophone.

Michael Mc Cague on guitar.

Michael is from Scotstown, Co. Monaghan, but he has been living and playing in Galway since 2001. He is highly in demand as an accompanist and has recorded on various traditional albums to date.

Come along for a night to be remembered.
