Philadelphia Irish Music Festival - details

September 11-13th, 2008
Friday, September 12th, 8pm, two events
Singers: Brian Hart, Terry Kane, Roseleen McGill, Matt Ward, Catherine Crowe,
Kathy DeAngelo, and Eugenia Brennan. Admission $12
Noon to 2 PM -workshops in fiddle, accordion, bodhran, pipes and step / sean nos dancing.
2 PM to 10 PM -continuous participatory ceili and set dancing followed by a “House Party” in the
ballroom with music by Kevin McGillian, Jimmy McGillian and Judy Brennan, or by Brendan
Callahan, Sean McComiskey and friends.
Performers include: Brendan Mulvihill, Tim Britton, John Brennan, Matt and Shannon Heaton,
Brendan Callahan, Sean McComiskey, Kieran Jordan, McDermott’s Handy, Tim Hill, Mary Malone,
Paddy O’Neill, Tom O’Malley, Dennis Gormley, Caitlin Finley, Jeremy Bingamen, Kathy DeAngelo,
Brian Hart, Catherine Crowe, Roseleen McGill, Terry Kane, Matt Ward, Fintan Malone and many
other Philadelphia area musicians.
There will be a one hour workshop in “Tin Whistle for Beginners” led by Dennis
Gormley at 4 PM followed by a performance of “Pipes, Flutes & Whistles” with several performers.
There will be a performance of “Singers” at 5 PM, a “Spoken Word” -presentation at 6PM.
When all the performances are over at 10 PM, there will be an open ended music
session in the Fireside room and a singing session in the dining room.
Thursday, September 11th, 8pm
An Irish Circle of Song
In the ballroom, Ceili / Set dance with Danny Flynn’s band The Bog Wanderers from Maryland.
In the Fireside room, a one hour concert with New York fiddlerTony DeMarco, followed by a sesion
of traditional Irish music open to all musicians. Admission to both events $15
Saturday, September 13th, admission to all events is $20
There will be a variety of vendors with interesting Irish products for sale, food by Kavanaugh’s Country
Kitchen, and two bars of the Irish Center open for your service.
