Anyone travelling up to Scotsown in a few weeks for this years festival? Looks like a cracking line-up again this year. I've always found Scotstown to be a very welcoming village for visiting musicians, particularly Mc Cague's pub on the main street.
Re: Scoil Cheoil na Bhotha, Scotstown, Co. Monaghan
Many thanks Macc for bringing up this event which must be one of trad's best kept secrets as it's definitely one I haven't heard of before. Looking at the list of tutors for the courses -
Noel Hill (concertina), John Wynne (flute), John Mc Evoy (fiddle), Fr. Séamus Quinn (fiddle), Derek Hickey (button accordion), Brian Mc Grath (banjo), Oliver Loughlin (piano accordion), Michael Rooney (harp), Tiarnán Ó Duinnchinn (uilleann pipes), Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh (singing) - it has to be on a par with any of the more well known Summer schools that we're all familiar with. It also comes at a good time of the year when there's not all that much happening.
I googled the festival and found its website at http://www.anbhoth.ie/ where there's also some good information on the history of trad in the Monaghan area (I thought this type of thing only went on in Clare - only joking!).

While on things "Monaghan" I've just stumbled on this great reel, The Emyvale, at http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display.php/5902/details which is definitely worth an airing in any session.
