Sligo Live Music Festival - Irish Traditional Sessions and Roots Music
Sligo Live has carved out a niche as one of the most relaxed and enjoyable music festivals in Ireland. The Festival, which takes place from Thursday, 22nd – Monday, 26th October, will host an amazing line up this October Bank Holiday Weekend! The dynamic session programme features dozens of musicians including Frankie Gavin, P.J. Hernon, Tony De Marco, John Wynne, Maurice Lennnon, Paul McSherry, Declan Folen, Brid Harper, Tara Breen, Dave Sheridan, Oisin MacDiarmada and Matt Cranitch in addition to International stars Martha Wainwright, Imelda May, Josh Ritter, The Saw Doctors, Comedian PJ Gallagher, Wallis Bird, Jinx Lennon and Paula Flynn, Chris Meehan and his Redneck Friends, Oddsocks Revival, Oisin and many more.
Sligo Live is dedicated to developing traditional Celtic music alongside more contemporary music. Sligo Live celebrates the session as the core of Irish music. It is a melting pot for young and old to enjoy the true spirit of Irish music and Irish people and a community where long life friendships have begun and where romance has blossomed. It is one of Ireland’s richest natural resources. Sligo Live nurtures this culture and keeps it fresh in an ever changing Ireland. “traditional music has been at the heart of Sligo Live since our foundation and we are delighted the Arts Council will support the festival again this year through its Traditional Arts funding. It is now up to us to ensure this funding is used to develop new audiences for Celtic Music.” according to Rory O’Connor, Festival Producer.
