Fe fydd rhai ohonoch yn gwybod eisoes am ein cynlluniau i gynnal penwythnos o sesiynau Cymraeg a Chymreig yng Nghwm Tawe Uchaf. Bum yn meddwl ers amser nad oes ganddon ni unrhyw beth Cymreig fel yr 'English Country Music Weekend', e.e., y cyfle ffurfiol o anffurfiol (fel petai) sydd gan gerddorion gwerin Lloegr a thu hwnt fynd am benwythnos er mwyn canu alawon, canu, dawnsio, dysgu alawon, cyfeillachu ac ati. Felly, dyma ein hymgais fach ni i greu cyfle tebyg. Fe fydd y penwythnos y ddathliad o gerddoriaeth a cha^n Cymraeg a Chymreig, ac efallai ychydig o ddawnsio... Welsoch chi Chris Reynolds yn bopio erioed? Ta beth.
Byddwn felly yn cynnal cyfres o sesiynau gwerin Cymraeg yn Ystalyfera (nos Wener 23ain Hydref) ac Ystradgynlais (fore Gwener, dydd a nos Sadwrn 24ain Hydref a phrynhawn Sul 25ain hydref) mewn tafarnau, ben hewl ac yn Neuadd Les Ystradgynlais. Mae sawl cerddor yn dod eisoes - gan gynnwys rhai aelodau bandiau megis Pigyn Clust, Bandarall, Alltud, Gwerinos, Y Plebs, Cilmeri, Bachgen Glas, Defaid, Mari Lwyd - ond mae wastad croeso i ragor. Dyma gyfle i ymhyfrydu yn ein traddodiad, ac hefyd i edrych ymlaen at ei ddatblygiad: cyfle i ddathlu ac i hyrwyddo ein cerddoriaeth, ein diwylliant a'n hiaith. Byddwn felly yn edrych 'sha 'nol, a sha mla'n i'r dyfodol...
Peidiwch a phoeni, da chi, os 'ych chi'n gerddor ond ddim yn gwybod unrhyw alwawon Cymreig - dyma un o amcanion y penwythnos, i ddysgu alawon a chaneuon. Mae o leiaf un sesiwn ddysgu alawon wedi ei threfnu eisoes, ac mae'n siwr y gwnaiff cyfleoedd eraill ddatblygu'n anffurfiol. Gallwch chi wastad ganu, ta beth, neu wrando! Mae'n bosibl y bydd llety ar gael, ond cysylltwch cyn teithio, neu trefnwch eich llety eich hunain. Marcie' awr o daith yw Ystradgynlais o Gaerdydd, Caerfyrddin, Llanfair ym Muallt ac ati, ta beth.
Croeso, felly, i gerddorion a phawb arall, i'n penwythnos o sesiynau Cymraeg a Chymreig yng Nghwm Tawe Uchaf ar benwythnos 23ain, 24ain a 25ain Hydref 2009. Ewch i www.sesiwn.org am ragor o fanylion.
Shwmae, everyone, and apologies if you get more than one of these emails!
Some of you will already know that a group of us have been planning a weekend of Welsh sessions in the Upper Tawe Valley. It's been in my mind for a while that we have nothing like the 'English Country Music Weekend' in Wales, no formally-informal (if I can call it that) opportunity for traditional musicians to get away for a few days in order to play tunes, sing, dance, learn tunes, socialise and so on. So, here is our own little attempt to create something on those lines. This weekend will be a celebration of traditional Welsh music, song and maybe some dance...
We're organising a series of folk sessions, then, in Ystalyfera (Friday 23rd October in the night) and Ystradgynlais (Friday morning, Saturday 24th October day and night, and Sunday 25th afternoon) in pubs, on the street and in Ystradgynlais Welfare Hall. There are quite a few musicians coming already - members of groups like Pigyn Clust, Bandarall, Alltud, Gwerinos, Y Plebs, Cilmeri, Bachgen Glas, Defaid, Mari Lwyd - but there's room for more. Here's a chance to celebrate our traditions, and also to look forward to its development: an opportunity to delight in, and promote, our music, culture and language. So, we'll be looking backwards, but also forwards to the future ('sha 'nol a sha mla'n...)
Don't worry if you don't know any or many Welsh tunes - this is one of the aims to the weekend, to teach tunes to those who wish to learn. There's at least one tune learning session organised already, and there will undoubtedly be more informal chances to learn tunes too. You can always sing, anyway, or listen! There may be accomodation available (please check with us before travelling) or of course you can orgaise your own place to stay. Ystradgynlais is only around an hour from Cardiff, Carmarthen, Builth, etc anyway!
Welcome, then, to musicians and everyone else, to a weekend of Welsh sessions in the Tawe Valley on the weekend of 23rd, 24th and 25th October 2009. Go to www.sesiwn.org for more details.

Diolchwn am gefnogaeth Neudd Les Ystradgynlais, sydd yn ein galluogi i fwrw ymlaen gyda'r penwythnos. Ni fyddai'n bosibl hebddynt!
We're thankful for the support of Ystradgynlais Welfare Hall. We wouldn't be able to do this without them!
