New Westminster Police Pipe Band presents...

Pipe Up! Featuring The Shee and the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band.

The Shee is an all-female group of stellar musicians. Members include Shona Mooney, BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year, 2006 and Rachel Newton, finalist in the 2005 competition. Amy Thatcher comes from the Kathryn Tickell Band and Karen Tweed's Circa Compania. Laura-Beth Salter of Frigg. Olivia Ross of the Kathryn Tickell Band and the Unusual Suspects. Rounding out the crew is Lillias Kinsman-Blake of Newcastle's Folkworks and Folkestra.

The Simon Fraser University Pipe Band are the reigning world champions, having won their 5th title in 2008 when the drum corps also picked up the top drumming prize. Along with their competition success, the band has also performed at Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House.

Opening the show will the New Westminster Police Pipe Band, beginning its second year under the police sponsorship. The band was formerly the Maple Ridge Pipe Band. The band will be performing some sets with The Shee and with Rob Menzies who has performed with Spirit of the West.

Tickets are $22.50 for Adults.
