Fleadh in Kilfenora

From Wednesday of next week, Kilfenora village in North Clare is the place to be. In fact on that night, members of the great Céilí Band celebrating their centenary will be playing tunes in Linnane's Bar.

Activities, including sessions, competitions, street entertainment and céilís take place over the next 5 days until the Monday when it winds down with an afternoon session led by Colm Healy (accordion), Noel O’Donohue (flute) and Liam Murphy (guitar/vocals) in Nagles Bar.

Kilfenora Does it Again

It's only just a couple of months since the Kilfenora trad weekend when the town celebrated 100 years of the Kilfenora Céilí Band. Now here we go again with the same Committee serving up another trad feast for next weekend's (starting on Wednesday night) Fleadh Cheoil. If you have a look at http://comhaltas.ie/blog/post/welcome_to_kilfenora_for_the_clare_county_fleadh/ I think you'll agree with me that all concerned deserve our congratulations on such a mouth watering programme of events. Sessions with Kilfenora Band members on the Wednesday night and musicians such as Siobhán Peoples, Murty Ryan, the Healy Brothers, Alan Kelly, Padraig Rynne to name just a few on other nights are definitely something to look forward to - full details are given on the website.

There's also a free lunchtime concert in the Riches of Clare series at 1.00pm on Friday, 19th in the Burren Centre, Kilfenora which features Kevin Griffin, Eoin O’Neill & Quentin Cooper.

Saturday and Sunday will feature the Fleadh competitions to decide on the Clare winners who will qualify for the Munster Fleadh in July with a chance of further progression to the All-Ireland in Tullamore. Does anyone know who the senior ceilí bands competing to get out of Clare are this year?
