David is from a very musical family in Dumfries and has been singing in folk clubs since he was 6 and took up the fiddle aged 9. By the time he was 15 he had been playing with a ceilidh band and performed on stage with Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham. In 2001 he won the Dumfries and Galloway Young Musician of the Year . He has also won the All Scotland and All Britain Fiddle Championships and was a semi-finalist for the young Scottish Musician of the Year. He has been one of the resident tutors at the Hibernia Centre in Bristol for the last few years. High energy, explosive and inventive is his playing. His workshop will focus on Irish and Scottish Fiddle styles.
