Jon Hicks has a name for being one of the finest and most innovative Guitarists in Irish music. He made a name for himself not only as a solo performer but also with bands such as the big Geraniums, Gan ainm and Lia Luachra, as well as touring with Paddy Keenan.
Inspired by players like Bert Jansch, Davey Graham, Steve Cooney, Arty Mcglynn, Richard Thompson and Paco de Lucia among others Jon has developed a style that is original yet tasteful and that sits comfortably in the Irish and English traditions that doesn't sound anyway contrived.
After being in New York for three years we welcome his return to this side of the Atlantic. He was in Bath for a short while last autumn where he had a great impact on the trad scene here and we are really pleased to have him back on what is considered by many to be the best folk stage in the area.
