I'm amazed this hasn't been listed already, so I thought I'd put it in. Even if the Comhaltas competitions don't appeal to you, there are loads of great sessions and other things going on, including the world record session attempt.
I'm also amazed how one of the biggest trad events of the year didn't get posted here - well done Cathy for putting things to rights! I also agree about "lots of things to do" especially the sessions in the lead up starting this Sunday night in Tullamore. Usually throughout the Eigse week there's any number of sessions around town with lots of room to get a seat (unlike the main weekend). I should also say that if you can't find a session to your liking, just head for the Bridge House Hotel where there's nearly always some good music going on in the lobby.
