"As for rolls, don't try to work out what is supposed to be happening. Take the finger playing the note and the one either side of it and rattle them about a bit. Sooner or later you'll do that and it will sound like a roll. That is how you play a roll."… more…

Casey Burns makes an affordable and great flute called the folk flute. If I am not mistaken, he can make it for smaller hands, too with the ergonomic system. more…

I know a number of people who have the first few bars of tunes notated in a book to jog their memory. You can also jog your memory by having friends start tunes. The friends are better, as they also have jokes and funny stories to tell... more…
