Does anybody know what has happened to Jesse Smith. I know he left Danu a while ago and recorded an album with Harry Bradley, but I havn't heard anything about him in quite some time.
He's a really nice fiddle player and I'd like to know where I can hear him.

I think he's going to hold a lecture on "The essence of Sligo fiddle music" during this year's South Sligo Summer School.
That will be on 13-th July, according to the plan of events listed at www.sssschool.org
Looking forward to meeting him there, as I will surely come along to attend the flute class. I hope he will be around during the week and maybe there will be a chance to meet him at a session or a concert somewhere in Tubbercurry.
I've seen Jesse around Dublin a bit. I think he's working in town and playing around the country. I'm not sure if he's teaching at The Willie Clancy again this year. Not too sure what gigs he plays in Dublin but I know he has a few.
Soceal's got it right. He's in Dublin teaching music and gigging all over the place. In Dublin he teaches at one of ITM clubs or CCE centers. Sorry, being stateside I don't know what exactly to call where he teaches, but I know he is teaching ITM and the job he has is a prestigious one. At one point I knew the exact details, but they've escaped me at the moment.
Thanks everyone for the info, I'll try and get down to Limerick for Blas. There seems to be a serious line up at it by all accounts http://www.ul.ie/~iwmc/Blas/

Jesse doesn't gig all over the place in Dublin!- Just
occasionally in the Cobblestone. He teaches on thursdays in the back room of the Cobblestone-
the classes used to be held in the Piper's Club until it was shut down for renovations.
Ha.
Ok Joking aside Johnnieflute, since you mentioned the Tap Room Trio album, he has also recorded a solo album called "Jigs and Reels" its one of my favourites.
Well worth buying.
Jesse was standing in the opposite aisle as I waited to disembark an Aer Lingus flight a couple of years ago. At first I thought it was someone who resembled him, till I saw the fiddle case he was carrying. I still regret not asking him to sign my flute case, but he disappeared quite quickly into the airport at Shannon...

Re: Jesse Smith
Heard he's attending the Technology College in Dundalk for a music related degree. Not sure how accurate that is.

Re: Jesse Smith
Honestly I prefer the new Fiddler (Oisin MacAuley), but I like the tunes Jesse brought to Danu. I have no idea what happened to him.

Re: Jesse Smith
Right. That's it.
Gosso you're dead meat.
He does have a blue fiddle, which is very impressive.
I'm saving up for a transparent one with real fish swimming inside...
