I'm going to Ireland for the 1st time in about 2 weeks.
My wife has a question. She's bringing her IPod, but doesn't want to buy a voltage converter or whatever to be able to charge the thing up. Here in the US, we charge it in our car with a device that plugs into the dashboard lighter.
Can we do that in Ireland? Will our dashboard lighter charge up device work with Irish cars?
I expect to take a lot of heat from you all with this question, but be gentle with me, please.
Take a close look at the label on AC charger - It may be rated for 110Volt up through 250 Volts. If so you would need only a cheap plug adapter (that doesn't change the voltage)
Otherwise I would absolutely expect the car charger to work. Sad isn't that that one of the few standards we could agree on is how to light our ciggies!
I took my Ipod over there recently, and it works fine with the car charger. No problem. Also, the wall plug-in that comes with the iPod is already a current converter, too, so as long as you have the plug adapter for the ipod (separate purchase from the iPod itself), you don't need a convertor for the iPod either. Go apple!
Don't buy the Apple kit of worldwide adapters, they're cool (of course) but expensive.
Just go into an Irish hardware store when you get there and get the 'conversion block' or whatever they call the adapter that lets you plug an American plug into an Irish wall socket.

Car cigarette lighter plugs are absolutely universal - so yes, I believe that would be fine!
