(good alliteration, hey?)
I do not know if anyone here knows about this (or cares). After a quick search I did not find a reference in the Discussions, Links, or Sessions sections.
After broadcast #1, Thursday, April 20, the cost is $4.00USD (~£2.25) per "session".
Hmmm....There is quite a bit of free music available not to mention personal collections to play along with, albeit not "live" and not with a chat section, and maybe not Scottish.
I assume that one will only hear the 'Hosts" playing, that way there is no issue with broadcast lag.
Thanks for bringing this up ed. We're starting an online session this Thursday at 9pm (GMT+1). This week is free and as you say, the next weeks will cost $4 a time to take part. The idea is to give a chance for people to play music that do not have a session close to them. It should be lot of fun and we would love to see anyone there who likes music.
Re subscription - no it's not! You only pay when you want to come in. The fee is to cover our costs because as you know the musicians have to be paid and live webcasting does not come free either. I suppose we're being upfront about it. When you go into a pub - you might or may not pay an entry fee but you will definitely pay inflated drink costs to pay for their musicians, electricity etc.
For those that are interested I (Simon Thoumire) will be doing a live webcast concert at 5pm on Saturday and in the following weeks we will be starting teaching courses (fiddle and concertina) online with live webchat.
One of the bands who frequent a few of the sessions around here puts up a regular pod cast, some of it is quite good, although I do appear in a few of the kirriemuir ones.....not telling which ones ! but the recordings are good, including some of the banter as well as the tunes ! oh and it's free !
Not saying all the musicians are of world class standards but thats not what it's about and everyone has a good time !
check it out......
