My (Canadian) computer keyboard doesn't have the vertical line key, should be in the top left corner, but just isn't there.
I've already gotten into trouble for submitting an ABC tune using capital i's instead. Anyone have any ideas if there's a way round this? I'm no computer whizz.
Hey Kenn, my keyboard has it. On mine, it is in the upper right hand corner, on the left side of the backspace key, the third key to the right of the 0 key. It is a dual function key, producing a backslash in lowercase mode \ and the vertical line in uppercase mode |. It is displayed on the key as two short vertical lines... it looks like an elongated colon.
The symbol is very suitable for Irish traditional music since it's called the "pipe" character. Bill Gates doesn't like it either because it's a Unix thingie, sending the output of one process to be the input to another, like when the air in the squishy bag gets sent into the end of the little hollow stick with the holes in it and squealing sounds come out.
No vertical lines?

Re: No vertical lines?
Don't know. Maybe Bill Gates is 'funnin' with us! Perhaps, we should all exact some retribution upon him, and run out and buy a MacIntosh.
