Master Classes with Gerry O'Connor (fiddle) & Gilles le Bigot (Guitar) in Sydney

I just received this email if anyone is interested in taking a master class with these fellas.

Dear all,

I'm being good and organising the fiddle classes that Gerry O'Connor is giving at Gaelic Club, next week on Wednesday 29 March. Gilles is also giving lessons on guitar - he specialises in DADGAD.

I'm organising for classes to happen there from 6, let me know if that doesnt suit. People interested, please contact me as soon as you can to nominate your preferred time and if want half hour/one hour individual or group class (a few people have already said they're interested but I need to book them in to a time)

The cost for individual lessons is $30 for half hour and $60 for an hour. For group lesson (3-5 people) its $30 for hour. Hope thats OK with people.

Note that Gerry is considered one of the best fiddle players, and is an experienced teacher of master class and beginner/intermediate (he's also a good fiddle maker, incidentally)

Also note that Gilles Le Bigot is one of the best and most respected guitarists in Breton music.

When you think of the pedigree of peple like Soig Siberil, Jacques Pellen, Jean Charles Guichen, Patrice Marzin and Jacky Molard, you'll realise he is no slouch!

Doesnt he play with that really famous band that I cant remeber? I tried going into his site - but the english section wouldnt come up for me.

Hi Bridie

He played with, among others, Barzaz, Skolvan and Gwerz. He also played on the heritage des Celtes recordings with Dan Ar Braz

Is anyone interested in getting a group together for the guitar workshops?
I've only ever played standard tuning and would like some exposure to DADGAD...

Beebs, does this mean you are back down under?
Unfortunately I have had to leave Perth to fly to Dublin for funeral. That's bad enough as it is but I will also miss Gerry/Giles as they were to play in Perth this Friday and were going to do workshops as well there. Life sucks - at least some of the time.
