The Burke D Narrow Bore is a somewhat quiet whistle and very sweet and pure sounding. It is still loud enough that I can play it in sessions, though not anywhere near as loud as a Susuto D. It is a very nice little whistle.
The Burke Session D is louder and has a bit of a different character, maybe less sweet a tone, though a) not in any way bad, and b) you may like the sound.
Take a gander at this page. You should be able to find mp3 recording of both. Search for Burke on the page. There are many examples.
Burke whistle bore/volume question
Burke whistle bore/volume question
Does anyone know how big a difference in volume there is between the wider and narrow bore Burke whistles? I'm thinking of the brass high d models.
Is the narrow bore still good for sessions? Or conversely is the wide bore on the loud side for playing in the house?
Thanks - Chris
