I am a newcomer to "The Session" so forgive me if I'm asking the wrong thing in the wrong place.
I have noticed on a couple of occasions requests for tunes that have already been posted. Is there any way of pointing the person requesting the tune to the existing post?
I'll occasionally just email the person and let them know the tune's already here and they may have just misspelled it. I suspect several different people may do this though, so the requester might end up with several emails.
We used to be notified automatically when a requested tune had been posted. However, this obviously doesn't work if the title is mispelt or different(for a more genuine reason).
However, it's important that members check different possibilities before requesting or posting a tune, just in case it's already there. Even I've posted a couple of tunes which were already there. It can happen to us all.
One big problem is that many of tune requests are absolute nonsense. Many are songs, set names, and other ridiculous things. Unfortunately, this devalues the facility.
Sometimes, it's worth having a look for a good laugh, mind you.

Silly me, I thought we had a Kylie Minogue fan come to visit
"I should be so lucky
lucky, lucky, lucky
I should be so lucky in love
I should be so lucky
Lucky, lucky, lucky
I should be so lucky in love"
I'll get me coat......
Still you posted it back in April 2003 so jjsherry didn’t search for it.
Hey it’s good tune I wonder why I haven’t come across it before?
