The lead singer from Danu has apparently released a new album. Has anyone heard anything from it? I've been a fan for a long time, I think her singing is amazing, and heard she was working on some solo material with a few danu members. Does anyone know anything more?
I've ordered one for myself, and it's released on March 14th. I noticed it is with Compass, and looked on their website. they also mentioned about Muireann on the Hands Across the Water CD. She sang with Darrel Scott and Oisin from Danu played fiddle.
I have high hopes for this new album. Seems like it has a few very traditional tracks too. I like when she sings in Gaelic.
She did great with Danu and I reckon will be great going solo.
I am sure she will have copies with her when she comes to teach at the Catskills Irish Arts Week this Summer (www.east-durham.org/irishartsweek). There will probably be a special launch night for that and the other new CDs by staff and special guests like Martin Donohoe, Josephine Keegan, Peter Horan and Gerry Harrington up there so it should be quick a week.
I just heard Danu & Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh in Tucson Arizona tonight, her CD, daybreak: fáinne an lae, was on sale i picked up a copy and it is great!! Compassrecords.com will have it in stock March 14th . . . get it for sure!
Try MWIH-ren nick OW-leev. the mw at the start is just that. pronounce m quickly followed by w. the OW rhymes with 'how'. The R in her first name is a softened Gaelic r, and is damn near impossible to pronounce if you're not a native speaker and completely impossible to describe by text.

This is her second solo album--Morning Star was her first, released a few years before she joined Danu, and a very nice album, too.

I have plans to buy it. I will probably buy it in person, as I plan to see Danu on the 18th.
