A kindly relative bought me one of those mini bodhrans off the ferry a couple of years ago. I was just looking at it amongst the other kids toys this morning & its going mouldy! Is this normal?
There's no drum in the world that is neater
Than the bodhran; its rhythms are fleeter.
It's from Ireland; you hold
It one-handed, I'm told,
And you play with a paddle-like beater.
Actually a well-cultivated patch of watercress on a bodhrán adds a patriotic splash of colour and makes a welcome change to the oul' matted hair. Get yours in time for St Patrick's Day!
Reminds me of a friend of mine who went to the employment exchange, and said he wanted to be one of the landed gentry. The lady behind the desk walked round the front and kicked him in the crotch, and said "There's a couple of achers to get you started."
Ptarmi, Silly? Me silly? And here am I thinking deep thoughts about a mould-ridden bodhran powering its own robotic tipper. I do believe I may have an invention coming on. I think I'll go and lie down for a while in a darkened room.

Re: Bodhran mould
Yup, if you leave it in the garden shed for 3 years.
Actually if the skin hasn't been treated or cured properly then it will become a feast for the fungII like any other bio -thingy.

Why do they always describe big things as being "as big as XX football fields"?
I have no idea how big a football field is.

Re: Bodhran mould
Can I cultivate something interesting from this instrument then?
A football (soccer) field is aprroximately 1 acre. (a rectangular one like)

Showaddy, a football field is as big as two very large things, each precisely half as big as a football field.

Re: Bodhran mould
You could probably cultivate a nice patch of athlete's foot on a bodhran. Perhaps even a few verrucas (sp?), if the skin is thick enough.
