If you fancy having a go at learning the Scottish Smallpipes, or indeed any other highland fingered pipe, at last online and ready for use is the first podcast.
Don't let the word podcast put you off though, essentially it's just an audio file of me playing and talking!
I've written a tutor book that is a bit different to the others on the market and I'm podcasting it free to the world!!!!!!
You can either subscribe to the podcast, or just visit the blog page and manually download the audio file. Each podcast will have an audio file and a pdf of the relevant music. There will be about 8 podcats all building up into the whole tutor book.
This is for my masters dissertation, so I need as many people to give this a go as possible! All data for the dissertation will be totally and utterly anonymous.
My only advice would be to make the podcast more discoverable. You can sign up to Odeo and create a channel there: http://odeo.com/
Also, it helps if you can get your podcast listed on the iTunes Music Store. I've gone ahead and submitted it so it might show up there in the next few days. Then, people browsing the iTunes Music Store might stumble across it and subscribe.
In short, it's like radio on demand (time-shifted programming, if you like: like Tivo). You don't need an iPod or any other portable player to listen to the files (usually MP3s) but you do need a computer to download the files.
What makes podcasting different to just putting audio files up on a website is the fact that you can be notified of updates by subscribing to an RSS feed. What's an RSS feed? That's a whole other definition:
Thanks for those links.
That looks good, I'll give it a go.
Knowing my enthusiasm for new technology, I may yet end up doing that with recordings of sessions I go to!

Re: Beginners Pipes lesson podcast...
If someone would do this for the Uilleann pipes it would be most beneficial!

Re: Beginners Pipes lesson podcast...
This might be a silly question, but....
What the chuff is a podcast?
Is it something to do with those fancy ipod walkman things?

Vix, your podcast is now on the iTunes Music Store. If you want to add a link to it (in the sidebar of your blog), the URL is:
