I've just noticed that this floor is perfectly level.
Even when I turn round on my chair I'm dribbling out of both sides of my mouth together.
OK OK
I want to stress that nothing happened that was in any way untoward, salacious, or unwitnessed. It was at the Cuckoos Nest in Leek about 12 years or so back. It was a warm night in a warm venue. The lovely lady was playing something on the pipes, and with the lateral movement of her left arm, clothing moved, as clothing will, revealing the very uppermost part of her shoulder (nothing else), and. . . and. . .
(There was an audible gasp from the middle aged hairy portion of the audience (that's everyone except Bridget, Shirley and the lady on row 4).
I can't go on. . . . . . save yourselves lads . . . . leave me here. . . . .
I got a guy to start making me some, and he got about three quarters of the way through and then vanished off the face of the earth. (No money changed hands.) And I couldn't afford a decent set from any of the recognised makers.
At this point I lost heart.
Pity really, cos I could play quite nicely within the limitations of crap pipes. If I won some money on the lottery I would (a) be astonished, as I don't enter, and (b) buy a decent set of NSP to while away my dotage.
I have to at least give an air of complete innocence if I'm hanging out with musicians, it puts them off their guard until they know me better.
Just in the same way If several men in the front row when I sing all seem to shift awkwardly at the same point then they are touched by the song or the beer
Truthfully, its a much more pleasant experience for those around me if I hold it in rather than hang out. Am a couple of stone and decade off being object of desire of the local folk scene. My personal fan club all seem to be over seventy.
Is this a good topic to distract pipers with when one ore more gather together and discuss reeds ?
Somebody's just gonna hafter write a tune to go with the title !
Doesn't the lady ever play in an off-the-shoulder or sleaveless outfit at these summer festivals, to show it off more ?
Maybe it wasn't a real tattoo, but just one of those dabbities you used to get in a pack of bubba-Joes along with some stale chewing gum?
This could easily explain why the tattoo now appears to have gone. Although a note the absense of any angry mother applied pumise stone scuffing on the relevant area : "I thought I told you never to put one of those on again".
A Northumbrian Piper from Yale
Was tattooed with the prices of ale
Whilst on her behind
For the sake of the blind
Was tattooed the same, but in braille
I suppose, showadd, I assume you at one time wanted to do it, because how else would you know whether you could do it or not, if you hadn't already tried it, & if you tried to do it, then presumably you were trying to do it because you wanted to do it - seems logical to me!
However, what you do with your electrical appliances, in the privacy of your own home, is entirely your own business!

Kathryn Tickell's Tattoo
I couldn't find this in the tune search.
Someone help me, please.

That's no good I want details not slobber from you lot.
As the owner of a rather wonderful celtic knot on my back I want to know what the competition is.

Re: Kathryn Tickell's Tattoo
Because I had a Burleigh set.
They were crap - I wouldn't wish them on anyone.

Maybe one day.

Call me old fashioned, but:
are you male or female.
Until you answer, I can't gauge where you fit in the competition.

Re: Kathryn Tickell's Tattoo
Female
Although I'm not sure how that will fit with the competition without a picture of the tattoo

You really think this is about tattoos, don't you.
How sweet.

Re: Kathryn Tickell's Tattoo
Ah yes - that'd be the hanging out that causes that.

I don't know about her tattoo but there's an unusual photo on this site:

Silly Bob! She's the one in the other photo, with the sporran over her shoulder. Surely you know she's a great fiddler too?

Not sure which is your right & left eh Showadd?
Is this why you never tried the Uilleann Pipes then?

Oh Ged!
Ditto ditto and double ditto.
Ptarmigan - I never tried the Hooligan Pipes because I don't appear to have enough hands.

Re: Kathryn Tickell's Tattoo
cw67q - has anyone ever noticed her chewing gum?
Perhaps that is the very reason she started playing 'bellows blown' pipes, so that she could carry on chewing gum, while playing?
# Posted on February 14th 2006 by Ptarmigan
Re: Kathryn Tickell's Tattoo
Which reminds me, can anyone actually chew gum at a different rhythm to the one they're playing.
Boys a dear, I've tried & it's not easy!

Re: Kathryn Tickell's Tattoo
Chew in time? I can't even shout "hup" when I'm playing - we signal changes visually.
# Posted on February 14th 2006 by showaddydadito
Re: Kathryn Tickell's Tattoo
"shout hup" showadd - why would you want to do that? Do you play on horseback?

Ptarmigan, why do you ask why I would want to do it?
I didn't say I want to do it.
I only said that I can't do it.
If I say I can't get in the fridge - do you suppose that means that I want to?
I worry about you sometimes.
