Tunes...

Tunes...

I have written a couple of tunes, and now I'm thinking about putting them on this site.Is that welcomed,or are the tunes on this site strictly traditional and Irish(I'm from Croatia). Some of my tunes sound less traditional, more Flookish(say my friends),some of them can't be played on whistles, and so on...Should I or shouldn't I?

Re: Tunes...

Of course, you can. But you have to balance each original composition with several trad tunes.

Re: Tunes...

What are the sessions like in Croatia, Mike? I know there's one in Zagreb - any others? I'm planning on a visit one of these days.

Looking forward to checking out your tunes.

Re: Tunes...

If you're coming to Croatia, let me know, because there aren't any sessions if my friends and I don't get involved and get the people together(if you're coming to Zagreb). If You're not going to Zagreb, let me know where you're going, maybe I know a couple of people in other cities in Croatia. The sessions can be very good, but in the lack of people it all depends on how many people with instruments that play melody come to the session. But they can be very good!

Thanks a lot Mike. It won't be till much later this year, or maybe even next year, but I'll definitely contact you before I head over.

Re: Tunes...

Mike, if you're going to be doing a lot of this sort of thing in future you may as well learn the ABC format, it's pretty easy when you get into it. Try this link for the basics: http://www.lesession.co.uk/abc/abc_notation.htm

And test your ABCs here before you post them: http://www.concertina.net/tunes_convert.html

Re: Tunes...

I think Jeremy has said something like three or four. Or five.

Re: Tunes...

if you're a purist and recognise that theres no need for the bongo, then i like your thinking, and im guessing your masterpiece is worthy of sharing with the world, along with any more gems of wisdom you might wish to impart....

Re: Tunes...

only joking...my masterpiece is still in progress...i have a set of watertight criterea that every tune must adhere to. to be honest i only have time for about 23 tunes...all of them pre-low-whistle

Re: Tunes...
